What’s the message for the next Witness Sunday?
May 25
Revelation 21:10, 21:22–22:5 and John 14:23–29
Sermon Theme: “TreeHouses“
John’s Gospel offers Jesus’ parting words of peace, comfort, and assurance: “Do not let your hearts be troubled… my peace I give to you.” He speaks of the Spirit as Advocate and presence, dwelling with us even when Jesus is no longer physically present. Revelation’s final vision gives shape to this peace: a city filled with light, sustained by the glory of God, where trees grow by the river and offer healing to the nations. There is no temple, because God is fully present. These texts don’t just speak about heaven—they shape how we imagine the world we’re called to co-create. Memorial Day weekend often holds both rest and reverence, and these scriptures help us imagine peace not as a passive absence, but as an active promise. Peace with justice. Presence with purpose. A city where healing is planted like trees along the riverbank.
We’ll explore how Jesus’ promised peace and the city of healing in Revelation invite us to be people of sanctuary and justice. The sermon will name the kind of peace that heals—and the kind of presence we’re called to offer one another.
